The main theme in all of Ricardo’s surrealistic works is creation, something in constant evolution. The focal point in this particular piece is the two-dimensional wall with fluid forms and twisting, interlacing lines which are the mos obvious stylistic traits of art nouveau.
Standing dormant, it slowly transfigures into a vivified state with stenciled roses quickening, thirsting and reaching for water, the foundation of life. Atop the wall, the cherries melt into a sugary deliquescence, the butterfly anxiously awaits the metamorphous of his mate, and the cricket completes his transformation.
All the while, in another plane of existence, the three-dimensional snail makes his solitary trek towards life-giving water
