In the On Sacred Ground Series, Ricardo was inspired by a conversation with a friend, singer and author Bonnie Jo Hunt, in which she was saying Native Americans believe that everything stems from Mother Earth. That all things are connected and spring forth from the ground - a symbiosis between the land and the people. The On Sacred Ground Series uses the background image of the sandstone caves of Arizona. Here Bonnie Jo is singing the Lord's Prayer in sign language. One of her songs is also featured in the latest Ron Fricke & Mark Magidson film called Samsara, which in Sanskrit means "continuous flow" the repeating cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth - very fitting for the concept of Curvismo.

This one is possibly my favorite... and that says a lot, considering the depth of your other works.
Ricardo Chavez-Mendez replied:
Thank you, John. She is a very special lady, she is an author, a muscian (singer) and cares deeply about her heritage! She is Lakota and she actually inspired the whole series so it was only right to honor her in a portrait and include her in the series. Thanks again!
Ricardo Chavez-Mendez replied:
I forgot to mention she is signing the Lord's Prayer in her native tongue in this image.
